Final Assessment

In our Romeo and Juliet unit, our aims and weekly assessments have centered around major themes in this work. For your final assesment, you will write a 5-paragraph essay.

Step one: Create a thesis statement about a theme and how the theme operates in Romeo and Juliet.

Themes covered: love, friendship, hate, youth, exile, family, fate, transience

Example thesis statement: In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's main message about love is that love is immortal and can transcend unfortunate circumstances.

POST your thesis as a response to this posting by Monday, (Week 4) so I can give you feedback and help you be successful on your paper. You may post your thesis as early as you like- the earlier you post, the more time you will have to take feedback, modify your thesis, and work on your paper.

Step 2: Write your 5-paragraph essay.

Using your 5-paragraph essay skills that you developed earlier in the year, use both textual evidence, inferences, and outside sources to develop your ideas in a paper. Access the "resource" page to use additional outside information, or research information yourself, but be sure to cite in MLA format.
